This policy is about the PromptAware waitlist website only. It explains what we collect when you join, how we use it, and the choices you have. It does not cover the future PromptAware desktop app, which isn’t available here yet.
Who we are
PromptAware is an early-stage product in development. In this policy, “PromptAware”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of this website.
Summary in plain English
- Joining the waitlist asks for your email, and only the other details you choose to give us.
- We use it to let you know when PromptAware is ready and, if you opt in, to ask for feedback.
- At this stage we do not collect prompts, API keys, clipboard contents, or any data from your AI tools.
- You can unsubscribe at any time, and you can ask us to delete your details.
Scope of this policy
This policy covers the PromptAware waitlist website only. Sections describing the future app are clearly labelled and do not apply to the data we hold today. If and when the app launches, it will have its own privacy documentation.
What data we collect
Waitlist and contact data
- Your email address (required to join).
- Your name, if you provide it.
- Your role or use case, if you provide it.
- Your preferences — for example, how interested you are, which tools you use, and your rough monthly AI spend, if you choose to share them.
Optional survey / research data
- Any free-text feedback you submit (for example, the most annoying thing about your current AI tools).
- If you opt in, a note that you’re willing to be contacted for a short research interview.
Please don’t include sensitive personal information or confidential prompts in free-text fields — we don’t need it and would rather you didn’t send it.
Website analytics and cookies
This website is designed to use as little tracking as possible. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party ad pixels. Any cookies we set are strictly necessary to make the site work. If we later add privacy-friendly analytics, we’ll update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
Technical logs
Our hosting and database providers keep standard server logs (for example, IP address, timestamp, and basic request information) to operate and secure the site. We use these only to keep the website reliable and to investigate problems or abuse.
What we do not collect at waitlist stage
To be clear, this website does not:
- take payment, sell subscriptions, or process refunds;
- provide the desktop app or any app download;
- collect your API keys;
- read your clipboard;
- install a browser extension;
- capture prompts from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any other AI tool;
- store prompt history, prompt versions, token events, or cost data;
- provide cloud sync of any prompt data.
Planned product data practices — future, not live yet
The following describes how the future PromptAware desktop app is intended to work. None of this is in effect at the waitlist stage, and these plans may change.
- The app is planned to be local-first: prompt content, versions, token events, costs, settings and history are expected to be stored locally on your Mac.
- Local data is expected to be held in an encrypted database, with the encryption key and any API keys stored in the macOS Keychain rather than plaintext files.
- There is no planned cloud sync of your prompt data in the first version.
- Planned, user-initiated ways to measure prompts include an in-app composer (counting happens locally), an optional browser extension limited to supported provider domains (claude.ai, chatgpt.com) and their prompt field, a clipboard hotkey that reads clipboard text only when you trigger it, and an optional API mode where you supply your own provider key (prompts then go directly to that provider, whose own terms and privacy policy apply).
- A small configuration service may be used to keep the browser extension working when provider interfaces change; it is not intended to receive your prompt content.
- A “delete local data” control is a planned future feature.

How we use waitlist data
We use the information above to:
- add you to the waitlist and manage it;
- send you launch updates and product news you’ve asked for;
- if you opt in, invite you to beta access or a research interview;
- read and act on feedback;
- keep the website secure and working.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Legal bases (where applicable)
Where UK or EU data protection law applies, we rely on:
- Consent — for marketing/launch emails and for research-interview contact. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — for operating and securing the waitlist and website, balanced against your rights.
When data leaves your device
This is a website, so when you submit the form your details are sent to and stored on our infrastructure — they don’t stay only on your device. (The “local-first, stays on your Mac” design is a property of the future app, not of this website.)
International transfers
If any provider stores or processes data outside the UK or EEA, we’ll make sure an appropriate safeguard is in place (for example, an adequacy decision, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or Standard Contractual Clauses).
Data retention
We keep waitlist data only as long as we need it — broadly, until PromptAware launches (or we decide not to launch) plus a reasonable period, or until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, whichever comes first.
Marketing and launch updates
By joining, you’re asking to hear from us about PromptAware. We’ll keep these emails relevant and won’t pass your address to third parties for their own marketing.
How to unsubscribe
Every email will include an unsubscribe link, or you can email us at privacy@promptaware.ai and we’ll remove you. Let us know if you’d also like your details deleted.
Your controls and rights
Where UK or EU data protection law applies, you can ask to:
- access the data we hold about you;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- restrict or object to our use of it;
- receive a copy (portability), where applicable;
- withdraw consent at any time.
To exercise any of these, email privacy@promptaware.ai. If you’re in the UK, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk; if you’re in the EU, to your local supervisory authority.
Security
We take reasonable, proportionate steps to protect waitlist data, including limiting who can access it and using reputable providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can’t promise absolute security, but we work to keep your details safe.
Children / age requirements
The waitlist isn’t intended for children. You must be at least 16 to join. If you believe a child has joined, contact us and we’ll remove their details.
Changes to this policy
As PromptAware develops, we’ll update this policy. For significant changes, we’ll take reasonable steps to let waitlist members know.
